AS VIRŠI-A launches protected consumer trading service

  • 2024-09-05

Energy commodities trader and convenience store network AS VIRŠI-A (hereinafter - Virši) announces that from now on customers will have access to the support of the Protected Consumer Trading Service, designed to reduce the electricity bill amount per contract. This initiative is designed to support large families, people with disabilities and low-income families by providing financial relief.

Under the Support for Protected Consumers, a reduction will be applied to electricity and network services. Data exchange between the electricity trader and the State-maintained database of protected consumers is automated and will ensure easy application of the support.

Scope of service:

The Protected Consumer Trading Service will be applied on a calendar monthly basis in accordance with the applicable regulatory enactments, which currently state that the amount of support is:

- For a needy or low-income family (person) - EUR 20;

- For a family (person) caring for a disabled child - EUR 20 (per disabled child);

- For a person with disability group I or their guardian - EUR 20;

- For a large family - EUR 25.

Virši becomes the fourth largest electricity trader for Latvian households in its first year

This month, Virši celebrates its first year in the household electricity trading segment and has already acquired the fourth largest household customer portfolio in Latvia.

"During the year we have become familiar with the differences between business and residential customers in the electricity market. We are aware that the growth of the household portfolio cannot be as rapid as in the business segment, as consumption is not as high and contracting is more inert. However, when we started offering in this segment, we realised that attracting customers is a long-term process and even after a year we know that we are just at the beginning of this process. We are delighted to have been able to provide a price-competitive electricity offer and a unique combination of fuel discounts on the market throughout the year," says Jānis Bethers, Head of Energy Department.

Virši customers particularly appreciate the price of electricity and the quality of customer service, and the Company continues to offer a unique product on the market that combines electricity with discounts on fuel and coffee within the Virši network of service stations.
