RIGA - The Riga Regional Court once more rejected the request of former Ventspils mayor Aivars Lembergs (For Latvia and Ventspils) to revise his security measure - custody, Lembergs' lawyer Maris Grudulis told LETA.
Lembergs right now is in the prison's hospital in Olaine because he contracted Covid-19.
The lawyer informed that Lembergs received Johnson&Johnson vaccine against Covid-19 on May 10. While in prison, Lembergs had asked for a booster shot, but he did not receive any response to that.
The Prison Administration Board had offered another Johnson&Johnson shot as a booster, but efficiency of this vaccine has received criticism and the Immunization State Council recommends Pfizer or Moderna as a second shot.
The Prison Administration Board did not comment on Lembergs' case, just said that Johnson&Johnson vaccine has been chosen because it is the most popular Covid-19 vaccine among inmates, which is why no other vaccines have been ordered for the prison.
