TALLINN - Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal discussed the security situation, the current state of joint projects, as well as perspectives of cooperation with the prime ministers of Lithuania and Latvia by telephone and spoke via video bridge with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Wednesday.

According to Michal, it is very important for his government to maintain the pace of the implementation of the joint infrastructure projects of the three Baltic states.

"In energy, the most important thing is to successfully complete the synchronization of power systems with continental Europe by February. I'm glad we're staying on schedule. Together with the government, we want to speed up the construction of Rail Baltic and we must cooperate effectively in order to ensure the necessary funding for the railway in the next budget of the European Union as well," he said.

The prime ministers also discussed the situation at the external borders of the European Union and NATO and the fight against sanctions evasion. The need to vigorously continue supporting Ukraine and raising the price of aggression in cooperation with allies was also emphasized.

In the video call with Shmyhal, Michal confirmed that Estonia will continue to be a dedicated supporter of Ukraine, help Ukraine on its way to the European Union and NATO, and work to ensure that the crime of aggression against the country and people of Ukraine is punished.
