TALLINN - Estonian President Alar Karis said in a post on the social media platform X that he is deeply disturbed by the assassination attempt on former US president Donald Trump and wished him a swift recovery.
"Deeply disturbed by the attack on former president Donald Trump at his campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Political violence is both unforgivable and intolerable, it has no place in democracy. I extend my best wishes for Donald Trump's swift and complete recovery," he said.
The former US president and Republican presidential candidate was injured in the ear during a campaign event in Pennsylvania on Saturday, while the man standing behind him was killed. The shooter was shot dead by the Secret Service.
