RIGA - Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andris Pelss and Algerian Ambassador to Latvia Salem Ait Chabane in a conversation expressed the wish to step up political dialogue between the two countries.
As LETA was told at the Foreign Ministry, the two officials had an online meeting on Monday. The Algerian ambassador voiced interest in resuming bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
The state secretary and the Algerian ambassador agreed to work on expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including science, education and trade. Pelss mentioned information and communication technologies as a sector with a good potential for cooperation. Cooperation in international organizations was also discussed.
The ambassador of Algeria resides in Warsaw, Poland. A remote accreditation with the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, will be held on March 3.
