Deadly train wreck in Ventspils

RIGA- A fuel cargo train crashed into a stationary train in the northern cityof Ventspilskilling two. The Latvian Railway Company reported that at 9:50 on Dec. 20, thecrash occurred, resulting in ten fuel tankers catching fire.

 Crews have the blaze under control andare busy removing the wreckage. Crews are also working to repair damagedtracks.

Officials expect passenger train services to be resumed shortly.

The environmental division of the Latvian Railway Company reported that theyhave sprayed absorbent around the area to keep the fuel from being absorbedinto the ground, causing environmental harm and pollution.
