A Russian submarine and warship have been detected near Latvian waters.
Latvian National Armed Forces say they spotted the warship and submarine near Latvia's economic zone yesterday The Kilo class submarine was detected 1.7 nautical miles from the zone whilst a corvette warship was located 5.7 nautical miles from the zone.
On July 22, a Russian naval ship was observed approximately 6.5 nmi from Latvian territorial waters. The ship did not enter Latvian waters and was only observed by the navy.
Similar incidents took place on June 24 and June 21, when the Russian naval ships Soobrazitelny and Boikiy were observed near Latvian waters.
More Russian aircraft have been spotted flying near Latvian waters amid the Ukraine crisis.
