Nordic Plast plans to invest EUR 1.7 million in company development

Nordic Plast SIA (LTD), a company of Eco Baltia AS (JSC), the largest environmental resource management group in the Baltics and one of the leading polymer recycling companies in the region, plans to invest EUR 1.7 million in the development of the company. This investment will bolster the production capacity of recycled pellets and pave the way for the company's future growth. As part of this comprehensive investment and development strategy, Nordic Plast is also unveiling a fresh corporate identity.

In 2023, Nordic Plast invested EUR 2.8 million in a new automated plastics sorting and recycling line to increase production capacity by around a third. This year, the company plans to continue the initiatives launched last year to boost development, with efficiency improvements as one of the key focus areas. In the spring of this year, the company's operations were relocated from Olaine, where Nordic Plast had been based for more than 20 years, to new premises in Jelgava, Aviācijas Street 18 G. The plan also includes expanding the production facilities with new equipment.

A total of 2 hectares is available for planned development projects in Jelgava. These include a wastewater treatment plant, a solar park to reduce electricity costs, and a warehouse to store raw materials. It is also planned to increase processing capacity and stock more raw materials in the coming years by expanding production facilities.

Nordic Plast director Andris Trumars comments: “Every year, we receive up to 20,000 tonnes of different polymers, which are increasingly subject to stricter recycling requirements by the European Union. This is why one of Nordic Plast's key objectives is to ensure that as many recycled materials as possible enter the mainstream, replacing the use of primary raw materials. The move to Jelgava will provide suitable premises for development projects, as well as more opportunities to increase production capacity, strengthen our market position both locally and internationally, and increase the company's contribution to the circular economy. Furthermore, the move to a more modern corporate identity serves as visual confirmation of the company's ongoing and planned plans.”

The company will present its new visual identity at Europe's prestigious exhibition “The Plastics Recycling Show Europe 2024”, which will take place on 19-20 June in Amsterdam, showcasing the latest developments, innovations, and industry trends in the plastics recycling industry. Nordic Plast has been nominated for the Product Innovation Award, which will be presented during the event.
