Zuzena wins competition to become LSM head

RIGA - Former long-time head of TV3 Baiba Zuzena has won a tender to become board chairperson of Latvia's public service media Latvijas Sabiedriskais Medijs (LSM), according to unofficial information obtained by LETA. 

Zuzena has been selected to head LSM in a tender in which 78 candidates competed for five seats on the LSM Board. 

Janis Siksnis, chairman of the Public Electronic Mass Media Council (SEPLP), would not comment the news, but indicated that a SEPLP meeting on the results of the tender is scheduled for this Wednesday, October 30. 

Zuzena is currently the head of Komercizglitibas Centrs consultancy. From 2004 to 2007, she was marketing and program director at TV3, and from 2007 to 2019, she headed TV3 and the entire media group Modern Times Group (MTG), which later became All Media Latvia and includes several TV channels, a radio station and web portals.

Before joining MTG in 2004, Zuzena worked in advertising agencies Creative Laboratory, "DDB Latvia and Saatchi & Saatchi Latvia.

Zuzena holds a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Latvia and a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Riseba University.

As reported, a merger of Latvian Radio and Latvian Television was launched in early April in order to establish unified public service media LSM, which is due to launch operations on January 1, 2025.
