2019 national budget planned to be submitted to Saeima on March 8

RIGA - The Finance Ministry plans to submit the 2019 budget project to parliament on March 8, LETA was informed by the Finance Ministry.

The government of Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) has already begun active work on the preparation of this year's budget. Finance Minister Janis Reirs (New Unity) is planning on acquainting government partners on the new timeline of the budget approval process next week. After discussion among government partners, the government is expected to approve the timeline. It is planned that the budget will be submitted for Saeima approval on March 8.

''The first tasks this government will tackle is this year's budget. Each sector and each resident is awaiting for the approval of the budget. We are planning to conclude the budget project by the beginning of March, as well as make sure everything is prepared for MPs so that the budget could be approved by parliament by the end of March,'' Karins said.
