TALLINN - The recent UN E-Government Survey 2024 indicates that Estonia has the second best state e-services among member states of the United Nations, with Denmark ahead in first place and Singapore following behind in third place.

The survey highlights widely available digital services and a well-functioning communication infrastructure as well as the Estonian digital identity identification system, which enables online access to public services.

The survey also points out that although government agencies in many countries already use various information systems extensively, e-government involves more than just technological tools. This means that in order to provide public services, the state needs to rethink the entire process of creating digital services.

In addition, the survey highlights that Estonia's national digital strategy is closely related to sustainable development goals and digital strategies of the European Union, promoting international cooperation and innovation in the provision of public services.

According to Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs Liisa Pakosta, thanks to well-functioning digital solutions, people and companies can get the necessary services faster and more smoothly and communicate with the government faster and at lower costs.

"The high place in the UN report has foremost been earned by the people of Estonia, who trust the country's digital services, using them daily to deal with the state, and everyone who has devoted their wisdom and energy to the development of the digital state," Pakosta said.
