VILNIUS - Lithuanian Energy Minister Zygimantas Vaiciunas will be in Washington, D.C., from Tuesday to Thursday to discuss ways to ramp up energy cooperation with US officials and policymakers.

"The visit is aimed at discussing opportunities to enhance cooperation in liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports and clean energy development, including nuclear energy, thus strengthening mutually beneficial transatlantic relations as well as Lithuania's energy security and resilience to external threats," the Energy Ministry said in a press release.

During his three-day visit, Vaiciunas is set to meet with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Laura Lochman, the acting assistant secretary of the US Bureau of Energy Resources, and other administration officials.

He is also scheduled to meet with representatives from US energy companies at the Heritage Foundation, a public policy think tank.

Lithuania has been purchasing a significant share of its LNG from the US in recent years.
