VILNIUS – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has been awarded in the United States for his leadership in fostering transatlantic ties.

Lithuania's top diplomat has received the 2024 Transatlantic Leadership Award from the Washington-based Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA), a leading US think-tank, the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

The award recognizes the consistent and successful efforts of Landsbergis, Lithuania and the Baltic states to garner international support for Ukraine and to foster and strengthen transatlantic ties, it said in a press release.

The award ceremony will take place in Washington, D.C., on September 26.

CEPA annually honors global leaders who excel in defending freedom, democratic values, the rule of law, and contributing to the strengthening of transatlantic relations.

Previous recipients of the CEPA Transatlantic Leadership Award include NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Prime Ministers Ingrida Simonyte of Lithuania, Mateusz Morawiecki of Poland, Kaja Kallas of Estonia, and Krisjanis Karins of Latvia, as well as US Senators Mitch McConnell and Roger Wicker.
