VILNIUS – Some 165,000 consumers, mostly in the Vilnius region, are facing power supply disruptions or have no electricity at all in Lithuanian on Monday as the country is hit with strong winds and heavy rain, ESO, the country's electricity distribution operator, reports.

The storm has affected residents in all regions of Lithuania, the company said, adding that bad weather conditions are preventing its staff from making swift repairs.

"We have no unaffected region," Rasa Juodkiene, spokeswoman for ESO, told BNS. "The number of consumers without electricity is increasing as … strong winds are still blowing and it is raining."

Nearly 500 people are repairing power lines damaged by fallen trees and snapped branches, Juodkiene said.

Wind gusts of around 20-25 m/s have been recorded in Lithuania on Monday, with even stronger gusts reported in some areas.
