Latvian dairy firms unhappy with Lithuanian competition

RIGA - The Latvian Dairy Company Association has asked the Competition Council to assess their Lithuanian competitors' activities on the local market. Association chief Margers Rava explained that Latvian dairy companies are irked that Lithuanian dairies are buying Latvian milk for a price that is 1.5 times higher than on their own domestic market. The average domestic price of milk in Lithuania is less than 0.13 lat (0.18 euros) per liter, while in Latvia milk is purchased for 0.158 lat per liter, Rava said.Lithuanian companies' operations are "not clean," he said.
