MPs voted on Tuesday to establish an ad hoc commission to investigate Antanas Valionis' past and determine whether the foreign minister had ties with foreign spy agencies.
Fifty-three MPs voted in favor and 12 against the proposal.
The exact composition of the commission will be approved later this week.
Commenting the decision, Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis, who is currently on a visit to Romania, told the Baltic News Service that he would not ignore the commission.
"I have already given a public reply to those weird questions. Still, I understand that there are certain parliamentary procedures, so I will answer again to any questions the parliamentary commission may have," Valionis said.
