Clint Eastwood will receive the Directors Guild of America's highest honor, the lifetime achievement award, at a Hollywood ceremony in January.

Eastwood has won four Oscars, including two for best direction, for 1993's "Unforgiven" and 2005's "Million Dollar Baby." The 75-year-old recently finished filming "Flags of Our Fathers," an account of the six soldiers who raised the U.S. flag at the critical WWII battle of Iwo Jima. The film is due to open toward the end of 2006 in a calculated move to position it as a strong Oscar contender.
