Authorities say that this was a in retaliation to the Lithuanian law passed June2008 that prohibits the use of Bolshevik and Communist symbols, likenesses offormer leaders, or Nazi symbols.
Bottles with notes regarding people's views about the law were also found bythe embassy.
Officers at the embassy noticed the commotion and Belarusian authoritieswere notified, and the case is now under investigation.
According to a press release from the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, LithuanianAmbassador to Belarus,Edminas Bagdonas said firmly that the situation must be clarified. According tothe 1961 Vienna Convention, the perpetrators should be tracked down and broughtto justice.
