Every day now, train delays are tormenting more than 10,000 regular passengers who in practice are completely dependent on rail services.
Minister of Transport Anu Veh- viläinen (Centre) feels that once this winter's blizzards have receded, steps should be taken to prevent a possible repeat of the situation as early as next winter.
"We've had a long bout of fairly mild winters. Perhaps we've forgotten what sort of situation can develop on the rails, especially given that there is a lot more traffic than there was a couple of decades ago."
