Vladimir Putin, Russia's prime minister, unexpectedly took up the looming extradition of Irina Antonova, an 82-year-old Russian grandmother, during his visit to Finland on Thursday.
Putin referred to the matter as a humanitarian problem, suggesting that certain exceptions should perhaps be made in the case of old, disabled people.
However, Putin also acknowledged the matter was a complicated one and said Russia would arrange to take care of Antonova, should her family request it.
