RIGA - A recent poll conducted ahead of parliamentary elections later this year has shown opposition parties are in a strong position to take over the government.
The left-leaning Harmony Center remains on top of the political party ratings with 18.5%. Unity is in second with 16.2 percent, while in third is the Greens/Farmers Union, showing a major leap from 9.5% in May to 11.3% in June.
The numbers also show that a number of previously powerful political factions, including the People's Party, TB/LNNK and LPP/LC, will struggle to stay above the cutoff mark to win seats in parliament.
