Kanepi scores major US Open upset

NEW YORK - Estonian female tennis star Kaia Kanepi has defeated the fourth seeded Jelena Jankovic in a huge upset victory during the US Open at Flushing Meadows.

Kanepi won 6-2 7-6 in a match that was plagued by high winds.

She now plays either Belgian 15th seed Yanina Wickmayer or Patty Schnyder of Switzerland.
