VILNIUS - Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius has thrown his support behind Economy Minister Dainius Kreivys following comments by the president that she had lost confidence in the minister.

"I think it is good that the policy of the state and the responsible handling of the economy comes to a person with practical business experience. It is clear that anyone who becomes a minister must clearly show that as a minister ceases to do their business. Kreivys did. Maybe some were not convinced," Kubilius saidin a radio interview.

President Dalia Grybauskaite earlier said she had lost trust in the minister, who she said may suffer a conflict of interest.
