Beach volleyballers win silver

Latvia’s beach volleyball duo of Aleksandrs Samoilovs and Janis Smedins won silver at the European Championships in Austria on Aug. 4, losing to Spain’s Pablo Herrera/Adrian Gavira 2-0 (21:19, 21:17) in the final match, reports LETA. The Latvians beat the Polish duo Grzegorz Fijalek/Mariusz Prudel 2-1 in the semifinals on Sunday.

Three years ago, Smedins playing together with Martins Plavins, won bronze at the European Championships.
