In a tight battle from the start, with both goaltenders in superb form, the Latvia-Switzerland Group C game was knotted at 0:0, until the last eight seconds, when the Swiss scored the winner.
The final horn sounded soon after, signaling Switzerland's victory 1:0.
Next up for Latvia in the Olympic tournament is the Czech Republic n Feb. 14, who lost 2:4 to Sweden on Jan. 12.
