No Latvian higher education institution is ranked among the top 1,000 in the World University Ranking

RIGA - Latvian higher education institutions ranked in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 have not been ranked among the top 1,000, according to the ranking data.

Riga Technical University (RTU) and the University of Latvia (LU) share the 1,001st-1,200th places in the ranking. Meanwhile, the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) and Riga Stradins University (RSU) are ranked below 1,501st. These positions were also the positions of these higher education establishments in last year's rankings.

Latvia is ranked 64th in the world and 26th in Europe in terms of higher education.

In total, 2,092 higher education institutions have been ranked this year. Oxford University is the highest-ranked university overall, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology in second place and Harvard University in third place.
