From October to December 2024, the Riga Security Forum will once again serve as a key platform for discussing global security challenges through a series of engaging podcast sessions.

As the geopolitical landscape continues to evolve in 2024, we face a complex array of security concerns. The ongoing war in Ukraine continues to destabilize Europe, bringing with it severe economic and humanitarian crises. While NATO and the European Union provide critical support, the prolonged war raises questions about our collective resilience and unity. Meanwhile, the rapidly escalating situation in the Middle East adds to the global instability, heightening concerns about a new epicenter of conflict emerging in the region.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Latvian Institute of International Affairs is organizing the Riga Security Forum, assembling international experts from the fields of security, politics, technology, education, and defense. This year, the forum will take the form of a captivating podcast series where experts will delve into key global issues, conduct political introspection, and explore difficult questions with the aim of fostering a deeper mutual understanding for a safer world.

From October 29 until the end of December, a new audio and video episode will be released each week in both English and Latvian. These episodes will explore a range of critical topics, including the role of the United Nations in modern geopolitics, with particular attention to Latvia's engagement with the UN agenda. Other key discussions will focus on strengthening and expanding NATO partnerships, the growing influence of media in an increasingly polarized world, and the impact of the 2024 U.S. presidential election on Ukraine and broader security dynamics. Additionally, episodes will analyze significant developments in Belarus and the Middle East, as well as the interplay between Russian and Chinese foreign policies and their implications for Western security frameworks.

These discussions will be freely accessible on the Riga Security Forum project website: www.rigasecurityforum.liia.lv, as well as on LIIA’s social media accounts and popular podcast platforms such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
