RIGA - President Edgars Rinkevics is today embarking on a two-day visit to Warsaw, Poland, LETA was told at the president's office.
During the visit, Rinkevics will meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda. He is also scheduled to have meetings with the Marshal of the Sejm, Szymon Holownia, and the Marshal of the Senate, Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska.
According to information posted on the Foreign Ministry's website, Poland recognized Latvia's independence on January 27, 1921. After the restoration of Latvia independence, diplomatic relations between the two countries were renewed on August 30, 1991.
