RIGA - Storm caused massive damage in Dobele Region around the noon today, according to residents' posts on social networks.
Heavy hail was observed in Naudite village, the storm snapped a lot of trees in Kronauce, several buildings have also been damaged.
Most of damage to power lines has been observed near Dobele and in the area between Dobele and the Latvian-Lithuanian border.
The storm continues to move northwestward.
Residents in Lestene, Tukums Region, have also observed hail today.
According to meteorologists, a major thunderstorm is in the forecast for today in Latvia, bringing heavy rain, hail, and widespread damage. The thunderstorm is expected to be over by 7 p.m.
