Terminal to transform into an new-era energy company in Estonia

Terminal, which to date has been known as a fuel retailer, has evolved into the first new-era energy company to offer its customers an all-in-one energy service with a year-round discount – shaking up the fuel, electricity and electric vehicle charging markets in the process.

“Today is a hugely important day for Terminal, since we’re able to announce the biggest change in the company’s history: for us, the era of oil is over and the era of energy has begun!” said Raido Raudsepp, a member of the management board of Terminal Energia. “This is a total transformation we’re making, as we’re set to become the first full-service energy provider in the region to bring all energy carriers to customers – everything from motor fuel and electric car charging to household electricity and food. We’ll be doing so in bundles that provide an all-inclusive energy service, allowing our customers to shape their consumption habits on a totally new basis.”

Raudsepp says that Terminal’s full energy service and unique energy bundles (known as ‘Nupukas’ and ‘Pro’) will give the company the edge over fuel retailers that only sell fuel, electricity retailers that only sell electricity and charging point operators that only offer charging services. “The steps we’re taking are likely to have a positive impact on the local energy market as a whole and to lead to customers who weigh up their options switching providers,” he said.

The company’s strategy is based around a monthly energy subscription along the lines of Netflix or Spotify that brings household electricity, fuel, electric car charging and a range of other products and services together.

Alan Vaht, another member of the management board of Terminal Energia, says the company will be selling its customers the value that comes with an all-in-one offer. “In lieu of promotions, we’ll have a range of all-inclusive energy bundles that guarantee year-round savings,” he explained. “We’ll be the only energy company in the region offering this sort of thing on a subscription-fee basis. Customers will no longer have to chase offers and weekend discounts. Instead, they’ll get all the energy they need from one place.”

Vaht says that apart from anything else, customers who opt for the ‘Pro’ bundle will enjoy a permanent discount of 15 cents per litre on fuel, resulting in annual savings of up to €450 – a substantial gain for any family. Moreover, electric car owners will be delighted by Terminal Energia’s innovative approach to electricity, separating household use from use for car charging: for example, a fixed tariff for household electricity will now be able to be combined with electricity at exchange rates for car charging and the home charging tariff on journeys.

Terminal Energia will offer traditional fossil fuels, HVO reDiesel, biomethane, household electricity, electric car charging, food and cylinder gas as part of its all-inclusive service. It will also produce electricity and buy it from solar farms, and offer trailer hire at its service stations.
