RIGA - According to information on the ticket website for the Latvia group stage of this year's European Men's Basketball Championships (EuroBasket 2025) - Eurobasket.bezrindas.lv, tickets to Latvia's matches against Turkey, Serbia and Estonia have been sold out.
There are still several tickets left for Latvia's match against the Czech Republic, as well as more tickets available to the match against Portugal.
The tickets to single matches went on sale yesterday.
Speaking to LETA, Kalvis Kovalevs, marketing manager of EuroBasket, confirmed that of the 27,000 tickets that went on sale to Latvia's matches on Thursday, between 2,000 and 3,000 tickets remain.
The Latvian Basketball Association (LBS) confirmed in a statement that there are still tickets left for Latvia's games against Portugal and the Czech Republic, as well as day tickets for several sessions in the knockout stage.
"The high demand has once again confirmed the huge interest of the Latvian people in the European Championships and their desire to support our national team in person," Kovalevs said.
He says that the high demand for tickets was not a surprise. The experience of Kovalevs, his colleagues and other countries was taken into account when planning ticket sales.
"However, at such high-demand events, there is an inevitable side-effect in practice - a bottleneck on the booking website," Kovalevs admits, adding that misunderstandings and communication failures also happen.
He confirmed that tickets for the other Riga group games and knockout tournament matches will be available once FIBA had confirmed the times of all games.
"This is expected to happen by May 6, but we are working to make it happen sooner," he said.
As reported, the Latvian national men's basketball team will play in one group with Serbia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Estonia and Portugal at the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in Riga.
Latvia will play Turkey on August 27, Estonia on August 29, Serbia on August 30, Portugal on September 1 and the Czech Republic on September 3. All matches will start at 6 p.m.
FIBA EuroBasket 2025 gets underway with the group phase played from August 27 to September 5, before the final phase is held solely in Riga from September 6 to 14.
