VILNIUS - US fintech giant Robinhood is set to enter Lithuania after the central bank granted a brokerage license to Robinhood Europe.

"The Bank of Lithuania has issued an A-category brokerage license to Robinhood Europe, a wealthtech company," the central bank said in a press release on Tuesday.

Robinhood Europe is part of Robinhood, a US-based fintech brokerage group founded in 2013. It is the 14th company to receive a brokerage license in Lithuania. Wealthtech market participants licensed in the country now serve more than 6 million clients across the European Union, according to the press release.

Simonas Krepsta, a central bank board member, said a few weeks ago that the arrival of a fintech giant in Lithuania would soon be announced.

According to him, Lithuania's fintech industry is "experiencing a golden age", with its companies providing services to about 30 million clients across Europe. A number of globally recognized players are operating in the country, and the sector continues to grow.

At the beginning of 2025, around 270 companies were operating in the sector, including 120 payment institutions licensed and overseen by the Bank of Lithuania. Forty-three percent of these companies are foreign-owned.

According to Fintech Hub LT, the sector employs around 7,400 people in Lithuania, with an average gross monthly salary of 3,900 euros.
